DENIM IS A WAY OF LIFE
Denim is a way of life and I’ll never be convinced otherwise. My off-duty ‘uniform’ comprises simple essentials: lip balm, water bottle, jeans and a t-shirt. Everything else is just an afterthought. A good pair of jeans or a worn-in denim jacket are 2 things you should never take for granted, and today we’re talking about the denim elites.
PAIGE has been and always will be my go to for denim, while also being a wonderful resource for other things like sweaters and tops. Yes, the brand is on the pricier end of the spectrum, but you can find PAIGE at places like Nordstrom Rack and Neiman Marcus Last Call (who doesn’t love a steal, amiright?!). The washes and colors are great, the crop is just the right length, and they wash up BEAUTIFULLY. I kid you not, I lived in a pair (that I still have to this day) in my last year at college, and they are the softest pair of jeans I own. If there’s one take away from this blog post, it’s the Verdugo Ankle in Tristan. It’s the perfect pant, in the perfect wash. If you like distressing on your jeans, same pant, but in Satellite Destructed.
J Brand balances everyday and statement denim to perfection. Just look at the Tate Boy Fit – I have never seen a boyfriend jean more perfect in all of my years on this planet. Don’t even get me started on their Natasha Sky High Cropped Skinny. J Brand also costs a pretty penny, but is totally worth saving for to splurge on.
Current/Elliott has such a wide (and beautiful) assortment, there isn’t even the slightest chance that they won’t carry what you’re lusting after. If you look at nothing else, check out their Original Stiletto Jean or Original Ankle Boyfriend Jean, and tell me you’re not screaming ‘TAKE MY MONEY’ at the screen. I know I am.
H&M has impressive denim, considering the price point. Their Mom High Ankle Jean at $29.99 rivals some of the priciest of jeans, and I’m here for it. Also, can we talk about the Skinny Regular Ankle Jean, which is in fact worlds away from being just ‘regular’. More like Skinny Fantastic Ankle Jean.
While Banana Republic‘s denim averages a little more than H&M’s, they are the second most affordable brand in today’s post. That said, it’s not uncommon to see “% off” throughout their entire site, so you can wind up paying $30ish for a pair of jeans that was originally over $100. SCORE. A great basic is their High-Rise Straight-Fit Ankle Jean. I also feel obligated to mention the High-Rise Wide-Leg Cropped Jean, because they are perfection.
These brands have a range of sizes and fits, which is why they made it into this post. With today’s focus on inclusivity, brands who take into consideration things like ALL skin tones for makeup shades and ALL body shapes for size offering get my vote.
Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my favorite denim jacket, the Rebel Classic Cropped Jacket from Hidden Jeans. While I don’t often go super distressed with my jeans anymore, this jacket is super distressed. I found it on a random ride out to Sanibel Island, and fell immediately in love. My next mission is to try out some of their jeans. I mean, hello Amelia Heavily Grinded Skinny.
Where is your favorite pair of jeans or denim jacket from? What makes them your favorite? Like I said, for me, jeans are life, so I’d love to hear about your go-to’s!
