WHAT TO get momma THIS MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s Day: the holiday where we go out of our way to show our appreciation for our mommas, and realize (like we do every year) that we should actually be doing that all the time. Since this is the first gift guide of many that I’ll share, I do want to start by saying that holidays aren’t about presents, and some mommas aren’t concerned with getting anything at all. That said, if you have the means and desire to get something for mother dearest this Mother’s Day, these are some of my suggestions!

FOR THE COZY MOMMA

Chances are, any of the mommas in your life have been spending a lot of time around the house (thanks COVID-19), and might still be this Mother’s Day. Treat her to a new snuggly throw to elevate her morning coffee or movie night experience. On the other hand, if your momma is an essential worker, she’s probably pooped at the end of her workdays so she’ll DEFINITELY appreciate a cozy throw to sink into.

FOR THE MOMMA ON THE GO

Look no further than a custom leather car key cover. Key chains in general feel clunky and so not glam, but with a car key cover as chic as these, she won’t mind fishing her keys out of her bag!

FOR THE GLAM MOMMA

What woman, momma or not, doesn’t like jewelry? A lot of jewelry companies have taken a ‘less is more’ approach to their designs, like this understated AND budget-friendly diamond necklace. Simple silhouettes like this are an easy gift to give, because they work for anyone!

Another glam momma go-to gift is fragrance. Check out this post that talks about my 5 favorite scents, each of which is seriously unique, so you’re bound to find a winner!

FOR THE Green MOMMA

In the past few years, I have started using more and more reusable things like makeup wipes, straws and water bottles. If your momma is already into the green movement, she’ll appreciate a reusable gift, and if she’s not, a Mother’s Day gift is a great opportunity to teach her the ways!

FOR THE FASHIONISTA MOMMA

If your momma is into handbags, check out my blog post that talks all about the basics of a handbag collection. Using that as a guide, fill in any holes in her collection, or add something to her already amazing lineup!

FOR THE SELF-CARE MOMMA

Self-care practices are at an all time high, or at least they have been for myself and the other WFH women I know, so give your momma a few new goodies to try. A bundle of the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence, Grown Alchemist Soothing Hand Cream, goop G.Nite Bedtime Bath Soak and Nest Apricot Tea Candle promise to elevate her next self-care routine.

FOR THE ADVENTUROUS MOMMA

An ‘experience’ rather than a tangible gift is often unexpected, but exciting all the same. When planning an experience, be mindful of any temporary closures due to coronavirus – your adventure might not happen for another few months, but it’s something to look forward to!

What is your momma interested in? If she loves animals, plan a day to your local zoo! Does she love gardening? Go to your nearest botanical garden! If she’s into athletics, do some research on activities like kayaking or horseback riding. If she needs some pampering, schedule a mani-pedi at your favorite salon. The possibilities are endless!

FOR ANY MOMMA

Last but not least, a handmade gift or card are exceptionally good Mother’s Day ideas for any momma, whether it accompanies one of the gifts outlined above, or is the star of the show. I made cards for my momma quite a few times growing up, and she has them tucked into the frame of her vanity mirror in her dressing room. It makes my day to see them even now, just as they did when I gave them to her.

At the end of the day, Mother’s Day isn’t about what you get her, it’s about cherishing your time with her, whether you’re under the same roof, FaceTiming, or reminiscing on time spent together in years past.

Do you have any plans or traditions on Mother’s Day? I’d love to hear about them!
